Sunrise Service

Happy Easter!  Just a couple of pictures I took this morning where church holds their sunrise service every year.  It's a beautiful setting!

And the Easter goodies waiting at home.

A Quick Post

It's been a little while since I've posted.  I have had a few things going on to keep me busy, so I thought I would just post a few pictures.  Then I won't feel too guilty!

I've been working on a few Easter projects for the grandkids.  I got this idea and pattern from a blog called  Chica and Jo

I filled them with candy and a few goodies, and they were pretty easy to mail off to grandkids in Utah.  The dark one isn't black!  It just looks like it (iphone cameras aren't great).  It's actually a royal blue color.  I made them out of felt and they were pretty quick and easy.

These Easter baskets were a little more involved, and sometimes frustrating!  The pattern for them can be found at a blog called Diary of a Flutter.Kat  I do really like the way they turned out, though.

I love that there are so many blogs out there with free tutorials and ideas.

And here are a few pictures from a quick trip up to the mountains last weekend.  Again, all taken with my iphone, so not the greatest quality.  I forgot my camera!

Yes it's a pig, named Nelson!  The girls just loved him.

Anyone For Orange County?

Tuesday I had to make a trip to Orange County so I decided to enjoy the day there.  Me, the bff, and another friend left early (6 am!) because I knew the commuters would be on the road.  I was right, and we did run into a lot of traffic.  What would normally be an hour or so drive ended up taking about 2 1/2 hours!  I can't believe all the traffic out there that early in the morning!

Anyway, after arriving in OC and taking care of what I needed to, we (bff, friend and I) were free to play for the rest of the day.

Since we were so close, we decided to drive down to the beach.  It was a nice day, but still a little chilly at the beach.  It was also a work/school day, which explains why there weren't many people there. We had the beach pretty much to ourselves, which was nice.  I don't get to the beach often, so it was nice to just enjoy the ocean air!  We all enjoyed it!

There were a few people out in the water, but not many!

After visiting the beach we decided to head back toward home since it was getting late and we wanted to avoid the evening traffic, which starts earlier all the time!  Once you finally get to OC you have only a small window of time before you have to head back out, or suffer the traffic consequences!  We did leave in enough time and the drive home was much quicker and easier than the morning drive!

After Tuesday's drive I've decided that though Orange County isn't really that far away (only about 80 miles), the driving and traffic makes it feel like it's at least in another state!

Aprons

Last weekend the girls were here visiting and they wanted to do some more sewing, so I brought out a project for them.

I had just bought some tea towels and intended to make aprons out of them, so I thought it would be a good project for the girls to work on.

They each picked out the towel they wanted to use and then, of course, we had to go to Joanne's to pick out some material for the apron pockets!

When we got back home I brought out my sewing equipment and they started to work on their aprons.  They both did almost everything themselves.  The only thing I helped them with was the rotary cutter....that's something I'm not ready for them to use yet!  I did also help them a little with the ironing. That long tie was a big ironing project for them and they needed a little help!

We spent most of the day working on the aprons.  The girls each took turns with me helping them, and by the evening they had their aprons finished.

Didn't they do a good job?  I think they're gonna be quilters!

A Few Pictures

I was just looking through some of my pictures and found a few that I wanted to post. They were all taken while we were still in Utah, and they were also taken with my phone, so not the best quality.

A little late, still I thought I would post them anyway.

Here are a couple with all the Utah cousins together.  In the first one they are having fun opening up the gifts we had for them....a second Christmas!

And here is what we saw one day while we were on our way to the store.  I think they're antelope.  Too little for elk I think :)  Anyway, they are kinda far away because when we stopped to take their picture they got shy and started leaving.  I didn't have my camera to use the zoom!  If you click on the picture you can see them a little bit better though.

And on another trip to the store (or somewhere like that) I took this picture of the mountains.  I thought they were really pretty, all covered with snow.  Too cold though!
