A Day At The Lake

Today just wanted to post a few pictures from the girls' visit.  These are all from the day we decided to pack a picnic lunch and spend some time at Silverwood Lake.  It was a very hot day so the girls were happy to spend some time in the water cooling off.

They did have fun and by the end of the day we were all tired.  As you can see in a couple of the pictures, others were out enjoying the water also.

Including this cute guy.

Well.... maybe only cute to some!

And as a P.S., though we already gave Tara her birthday gifts while she was here visiting, today is her official birthday.  So Happy Birthday Miss Tara!

Levi's Birthday

I haven't posted for awhile and decided that I'd better get busy.  So I will mostly be posting pictures of grandson Levi's birthday party.  All of the grandkids were there and we got to enjoy the party with all of them, plus lots of neighbor kids.

Levi's mom had given the party a circus theme and it turned out really cute.  I took lots of pictures so here are a few, starting with the birthday boy.

They all got clown noses!

Taking a turn at the pinata!  Notice the rain outside.  The party was supposed to be in the backyard but rain and strong winds forced everyone into the garage.

Opening the presents!  The rain finally stopped.

Kevin did all of the face painting.  He did a pretty good job.  The kids all enjoyed having their faces done.

Playing "pin the nose on Levi!"

A fun time for all!

Really Quick Long Road Trip

Last weekend my niece, sister, and I traveled to Utah to pick up the grandkids (Katie and Tara) for a visit.  Because of work schedules we only had the weekend to work with.  I knew there would be traffic but I didn't expect what we ended up in!

We headed out late Friday afternoon and did pretty well until 19 miles from the Nevada state line.  We came to a grinding halt at that time!  From that point on we inched along, sometimes totally stopped, most of the time moving at about 5 miles per hour!  We finally got to the state line three hours later!  It wasn't all bad, some of the drivers started a game and were passing snacks back and forth to each other while they were moving slowly along. It helped to keep us entertained!

When we finally got to the state line we stopped and took a breather from all the traffic, then continued on without any more delays.

Because we were so far behind by this time we drove as far as we could get and finally pulled into a rest stop to sleep for a little while.  We knew if we checked into a motel we would all be so tired we wouldn't get the early start in the morning that we wanted.  So you can guess how much restful sleep we got!  It was enough though, to get us to our destination, which took only about three more hours.  We arrived at about ten o'clock Saturday morning.

It's a good thing we had comfortable beds to sleep in Saturday night because we got up bright and early Sunday morning, grabbed the grandkids, and headed back to California! Of course we ran into more traffic!  What should have been an eight-hour drive home ended up a twelve-hour drive!

Weekends are NOT the time for travel!
